The Breast Clinic & Ten Health

Transcript

At the breast clinic, our guiding principle is simple: personalised, evidence-based, holistic care. We've built a multidisciplinary team to support patients through every stage of the breast cancer journey. From diagnosis and treatment, to recovery and restoring long-term health goals. As cancer specialists, we fully understand the impact of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and long-term medications. That’s why we constantly seek to reduce side effects and improve outcomes. As part of this mission, we’ve partnered with Ten Health & Fitness to enhance recovery and quality of life. Ten’s Clinical Exercise service is designed to support patients with short and long term health conditions - and this includes those navigating menopause - whether due to cancer treatment or natural changes. They deliver bespoke, highly effective clinical exercise in a welcoming, inclusive environment designed to uplift and empower. The benefits of exercise are clear. It improves physical and emotional wellbeing and has been shown to improve cancer outcomes. Ten’s circle of care model connects patients seamlessly with in-house specialists, offering support that’s personalised and coordinated at every stage. So, what exactly is clinical exercise? Unlike standard personal training, clinical exercise is guided by the patient’s needs—not aesthetics. The focus is on safety, medical science, and goals like resilience, strength, and long-term recovery, all shaped in close collaboration with clinical teams. Every patient receives a thorough clinical assessment. Sessions are personalised and monitored to track progress - using tools like heart rate, blood sugar monitoring and body composition tracking. Our pilot with Ten showed that even during chemotherapy, regular Pilates-based therapy helped patients retain vital muscle mass. Patients consistently tell me they feel motivated, supported, and more capable than they ever imagined. I believe Pilates is a powerful foundation - and when combined with massage, physiotherapy, contrast therapy, and nutrition - it helps patients recover with confidence and clarity. Clinical exercise is always tailored. During chemotherapy, it focuses on maintaining strength and resilience. After surgery, it becomes a driver of recovery - helping patients rebuild confidence, movement and progress toward specific physical and emotional goals. Sadly, most traditional fitness providers aren’t equipped to deliver this type of care. At Ten, every clinical exercise specialist is part of a broader multidisciplinary team that includes physiotherapy, massage therapists and Pilates instructors, with additional support from Ten's partnered nutritionists. Patients can draw on these services as needed throughout their journey, ensuring that each person receives the right support at the right time. This unique, integrated approach means no one is working in isolation. Whether you’re early in treatment or post-recovery, you’ll receive targeted support that evolves with your needs. And crucially, it’s delivered in a space that feels supportive, not clinical or intimidating. So, let me introduce the Ten Health and Fitness team and let them share how they work with us to help our patients. Together, we’re building a future where physical recovery is integrated, empowering, and personalised for every person on their breast cancer journey.
